The IntelliCAD Technology Consortium Announces IntelliCAD® 6.4 Beta.

IntelliCAD 6.4 supports DWG 2008 compatibility

Portland, Oregon - May 29, 2007 - The IntelliCAD Technology Consortium (ITC) announced today the release of IntelliCAD 6.4 Beta, another release of the IntelliCAD 6 family aimed at improved quality, DWG 2008 compatibility and increased stability.

IntelliCAD 6.4 Beta uses the latest advances in the ODA DWGdirect 2.3.1 libraries, which interpret the updated DWG 2008 file format. IntelliCAD 6.4 Beta will read, display, and write DWG 2008 files, which include several new entity types and over 40 new system variables.

The ITC Development Team has worked diligently to release this latest Beta version quickly so that ITC members can preview and test the latest IntelliCAD technology with the updated DWG 2008 file format. When asked about the IntelliCAD 6.4 Beta release, ITC Development Director David Lorenzo replied, "Expanding on the quality assurance used for the release of IntelliCAD 6.3 we expect that IntelliCAD 6.4 will have improved quality and stability."

For updates on the availability status of IntelliCAD 6.4, information about its new features and capabilities, and opportunities to test the Beta version, please visit: http://www.intellicad.org/.

The ITC Announces The New IntelliCAD

CAD Developers Anticipate Entirely Re-designed CAD platform

Portland, OR May 15, 2007 - The IntelliCAD Technology Consortium (ITC), the developer of IntelliCAD core technology, today announced the New IntelliCAD.

The New IntelliCAD represents a complete redesign of the widely used IntelliCAD engine, an open platform upon which hundreds of engineering applications have been based.    The new IntelliCAD will offer greater speed and wider functionality, and is based on DWGdirect, a non-proprietary design format compatible with ARX and Autodesk-related systems available from the Open Design Alliance.

ITC welcomes all developers who have ARX applications and application developers closely reliant on IntelliCAD technology to learn more about the New IntelliCAD. Interested parties register at http://www.intellicad.org/register/. Registrants will receive invitations for webinars, newsletters, beta testing opportunities, and the status of the New IntelliCAD development and availability. ITC anticipates the alpha test release July 2007 and the full release to occur at the start of 2008.

According to ITC President Arnold van der Weide, "We are excited about the New IntelliCAD which culminates a long-term effort to build the next-generation system, with over 20 man-years invested thus far on the project."

"After three years in development, I believe that the New IntelliCAD is the perfect solution for ARX based application developers who are looking for an alternative to AutoCAD and AutoCAD LT.  At this point we want everyone to plan ahead for taking advantage of all the potential of the New IntelliCAD."

The ITC Releases IntelliCAD 6.3

Additions and improvements boost value of IntelliCAD technology

Portland, OR - March 1, 2007 - The IntelliCAD Technology Consortium (ITC) today announced the release of its latest version of its cooperatively developed CAD engine, IntelliCAD 6.3.  The IntelliCAD engine reads and writes the DWG data format - a binary file storage format for storing both graphics and textual annotations - used commonly by architects, engineers, designers, and virtually all CAD-related software applications.

IntelliCAD 6.3 uses the latest advances in the ODA DWGdirect 2.2 libraries, based on the industry standard OpenDWG, which is widely supported by commercial software vendors, and the engineering community.   IntelliCAD 6.3 utilizes the new ODA libraries to interpret the updated DWG 2007 file format.  IntelliCAD 6.3 will read, display, and write DWG 2007 files, which include 10 new entity types and over 80 new system variables.

Although the focus of v6.3 development has centered on DWG 2007 compatibility, other major enhancements can be found in this release:

  • A new color book editor provides the ability to effectively organize, create, and edit color books.
  • Improved user interface for PDF export provides more flexible output options.
  • Dozens of new events and a new ApplicationPreferences object were added to the COM API.
  • A new Code Page Manager command allows you to convert drawings or set your code page language preferences when opening drawings.
  • Multiple enhancements for raster image handling include:
    • Improved user interface
    • 4x increase in display performance for large images
    • Lower memory footprint for large images
    • Improved performance for drawings with a large number of images
    • Better support for monochrome images
    • New COM API for creating and manipulating image entities

In addition to the new features and DWG 2007 support, hundreds of repairs and minor improvements were added as well, including:

  • Setup now supports Microsoftâ Windowsâ Vistaä
  • Draworder enhancements for blocks and external references
  • Viewport enhancements, including locking viewports and assigning a UCS for viewports
  • Snapping to model space entities from paper space; picking model space entities from paper space for creating dimensions and other dimensioning improvements
  • The Paste command allows you to specify an insertion point
  • Performance improvements with drawings containing large meshes
  • Improved performance and reduced screen flicker when using dynamic zoom and pan
  • The Tangent-Tangent-Tangent option is now available for circle creation

David Lorenzo, Development Director, IntelliCAD Technology Consortium commented, "Our extensive tests of the new DWGdirect libraries indicate that the ODA has done a great job providing 2007 DWG support.  We are proud to release the newest update to IntelliCAD to our wide audience of users."

The ITC Announces IntelliCAD 6.2

New raster image solution added

The IntelliCAD Technology Consortium Announces IntelliCAD® 6.2
May 8, 2006 | Portland, OR
The IntelliCAD Technology Consortium (ITC) (www.intellicad.org) announced today IntelliCAD 6.2, an important update of the IntelliCAD technology.

IntelliCAD 6.2 builds upon the enhancements provided with IntelliCAD 6.1 and 6.0 by further supporting IntelliCAD users with the creation of complex, high-quality, professional drawings.

IntelliCAD 6.2 extends the performance gains from versions 6.1 and 6.0 for handling large files by displaying and inserting drawings with large polyface meshes up to 8 times faster.

New color features include support for true colors, which include more than 16 million colors, and color books, which provide a way to organize collections of colors.

Some ITC members may decide to include a new raster imaging solution, ADeko Raster, with IntelliCAD Professional. ADeko Raster includes easy-to-use features that allow users to work with image files in their drawings.

Major additions and improvements were made to the IntelliCAD COM API, adding dozens of new methods and properties.

Also aiding IntelliCAD users will be more new features, including the ability to view thumbnail images while browsing drawing files, draw and view wipeout entities, attach WAV files as audio notes, use new extension entity snap options, and modify commands to snap to the midpoint of specified points.

When asked about the IntelliCAD 6.2 update, ITC Development Director David Lorenzo replied, "The COM API additions show our continued support for IntelliCAD as a development platform, while leveraging third-party components such as raster imaging demonstrates a strong commitment to our development community. We will continue to build this partnership to provide quality solutions for our users."?
