4M releases IDEA Architectural v.10 on IntelliCAD v6.6

The IntelliCAD Technology Consortium Announces New Leadership

The IntelliCAD Technology Consortium (ITC) (http://www.intellicad.org/) announces the election of Robert McGill as ITC President and Cliff Petersohn as ITC Chairman of the Board. These elections took place at the recent annual ITC Board of Directors meeting in Leiden, The Netherlands.

Mr. McGill comes to the ITC having held senior management roles at SolidWorks, CAMAX, CADAM and Computervision. He is a strong proponent of component software and partnering to accelerate technology. Mr. McGill joined the ITC in 2008 as Business Development Director, responsible for increasing the number of vertical applications on the IntelliCAD platform and improving the marketing reach of the ITC. "Our focus at the ITC is to deliver a top quality IntelliCAD product and to work with our members to maximize their success," stated Mr. McGill.

Mr. Petersohn is a senior development manager with Carlson Software, a leader in surveying and civil engineering software. Mr. Petersohn is a noted expert in CAD and GIS system platforms including client-server architectures. Mr. Petersohn has served on the Board of Directors of the ITC since October 2008. The IntelliCAD Technology Consortium Announces IntelliCAD® World Meeting 2008

Come to Athens to meet the development team and see the new IntelliCAD.

The IntelliCAD Technology Consortium (ITC) (http://www.intellicad.org/) announces the fourth IntelliCAD World Meeting, a multi-day conference designed for people interested in IntelliCAD to meet with ITC members, the IntelliCAD development team, and other innovators in the CAD industry.

IntelliCAD World Meeting 2008 will be held October 29 to 31, 2008 in Athens, Greece. The conference focuses on the next generation of the IntelliCAD technology, to be released during Q2 2009. Seminars will demonstrate the capabilities and importance of this new technology, including new components and application programming interfaces to create custom objects in IntelliCAD. These new development tools further enhance the current capabilities of ITC members to create advanced object-oriented vertical solutions for their end-users.

The ITC team has been working for over 3 years refactoring the widely used IntelliCAD engine, an open platform upon which hundreds of engineering applications have been based. The IntelliCAD Technology Consortium Announces IntelliCAD® 7.0 Alpha

ITC members gain early access to new IntelliCAD technology.

Portland - December 19, 2007 - The IntelliCAD Technology Consortium (ITC) (http://www.intellicad.org/) announces the release of IntelliCAD 7.0 Alpha to the ITC members.

IntelliCAD 7.0 is a complete re-architecture of the IntelliCAD technology. IntelliCAD 7.0 integrates DWGdirect from the Open Design Alliance directly as its internal database, which provides improved performance in loading and saving files, full access to the DWGdirect DRX development interface (an object-oriented C++ API), and a flexible new graphics subsystem.

When completed, IntelliCAD 7.0 will further enhance the ability of ITC members to create advanced and highly specialized vertical applications and deliver robust CAD technology to their end-users.

When asked about the release, David Lorenzo, ITC Development Director, replied, "Although IntelliCAD 7.0 is not feature complete, the release allows our members to learn more about the new DRX API. The sample DRX applications provided with the Alpha demonstrate how to implement custom objects in IntelliCAD with overrides such as dragging, grip editing, and LIST. Members can review the API, provide feedback, and begin design for new applications while internal development continues to complete the new engine."

IntelliCAD 7.0 Alpha includes over 250 rewritten commands - several of which are now demand-loaded DRX external applications, UNICODE support, improved paperspace functionality, Diesel menu support, object enabler for Autodesk Architecture, improved DWG file format compatibility, and an improved user interface.

The ITC plans to release IntelliCAD 7.0 Beta in the second quarter of 2008.

IntelliCAD 6.4 uses the latest advances in the ODA DWGdirect 2.3.2 libraries, which interpret the updated DWG 2007 file format, including 2008 object support. IntelliCAD 6.4 can read, display, and save drawings in the latest DWG file format, which includes several new entity types, such as annotations, and over 40 new system variables.

The ITC released the updated IntelliCAD technology so ITC members can use the latest IntelliCAD technology with the updated DWG file format. The ITC Announces The New IntelliCAD

CAD Developers Anticipate Entirely Re-designed CAD platform

Portland, OR May 15, 2007 - The IntelliCAD Technology Consortium (ITC), the developer of IntelliCAD core technology, today announced the New IntelliCAD. 

The New IntelliCAD represents a complete redesign of the widely used IntelliCAD engine, an open platform upon which hundreds of engineering applications have been based.    The new IntelliCAD will offer greater speed and wider functionality, and is based on DWGdirect, a non-proprietary design format compatible with ARX and Autodesk-related systems available from the Open Design Alliance.  

ITC welcomes all developers who have ARX applications and application developers closely reliant on IntelliCAD technology to learn more about the New IntelliCAD. The ITC Releases IntelliCAD 6.3

Additions and improvements boost value of IntelliCAD technology

Portland, OR - March 1, 2007 - The IntelliCAD Technology Consortium (ITC) today announced the release of its latest version of its cooperatively developed CAD engine, IntelliCAD 6.3.  The IntelliCAD engine reads and writes the DWG data format - a binary file storage format for storing both graphics and textual annotations - used commonly by architects, engineers, designers, and virtually all CAD-related software applications.

IntelliCAD 6.3 uses the latest advances in the ODA DWGdirect 2.2 libraries, based on the industry standard OpenDWG, which is widely supported by commercial software vendors, and the engineering community.   IntelliCAD 6.3 utilizes the new ODA libraries to interpret the updated DWG 2007 file format.  IntelliCAD 6.3 will read, display, and write DWG 2007 files, which include 10 new entity types and over 80 new system variables.

Although the focus of v6.3 development has centered on DWG 2007 compatibility, other major enhancements can be found in this release:

  • A new color book editor provides the ability to effectively organize, create, and edit color books.
  • Improved user interface for PDF export provides more flexible output options.
  • Dozens of new events and a new ApplicationPreferences object were added to the COM API.
  • A new Code Page Manager command allows you to convert drawings or set your code page language preferences when opening drawings.
  • Multiple enhancements for raster image handling include:
    • Improved user interface
    • 4x increase in display performance for large images
    • Lower memory footprint for large images
    • Improved performance for drawings with a large number of images
    • Better support for monochrome images
    • New COM API for creating and manipulating image entities

In addition to the new features and DWG 2007 support, hundreds of repairs and minor improvements were added as well, including:

  • Setup now supports Microsoftâ Windowsâ Vistaä
  • Draworder enhancements for blocks and external references
  • Viewport enhancements, including locking viewports and assigning a UCS for viewports
  • Snapping to model space entities from paper space; picking model space entities from paper space for creating dimensions and other dimensioning improvements
  • The Paste command allows you to specify an insertion point
  • Performance improvements with drawings containing large meshes
  • Improved performance and reduced screen flicker when using dynamic zoom and pan
  • The Tangent-Tangent-Tangent option is now available for circle creation
